Ocean City's October Revolves Around the Inlet Lot, and Cruisin' Week Starts on a Tuesday

On Friday, Sept. 25, the sign outside Buxy's Salty Dog Saloon on 28th Street read: "No concert, no problem, tonight we got KT Tunstall 9 p.m." Tunstall had been booked for Oceans Calling. When the festival was called off, she played two free sets at Buxy's instead, and Cassandra Coleman played at Seacrets, according to WBOC. The organizers canceled all of Oceans Calling 2026 after a nor'easter brought tides, flooding and high winds that stopped crews from safely finishing the build.

That leaves October without its biggest music weekend. Most of what's left runs through two places: the Inlet Parking Lot downtown and Coastal Highway. The busiest stretch of the month officially begins on Tuesday, Oct. 6, two days before Endless Summer Cruisin' opens.

October, Weekend by Weekend

The Town of Ocean City published its October lineup on Oct. 1. Here it is with The Banner's fall preview folded in, grouped by the weekends that shape traffic and parking.

Dates What's happening Where it lands
Oct. 2–3 Third annual Country Calling The Inlet
Oct. 6–11 Special Event Zone in effect Everywhere in town
Oct. 8–11 Endless Summer Cruisin', Hot Rod & Custom Car Show Convention Center on 40th Street, Inlet Lot, Boardwalk
Oct. 10 Harbor Day at the Docks West Ocean City Commercial Fishing Harbor
Oct. 16–17 Corvette Weekend Location not listed in the Town's roundup
Oct. 17 Family Beach Bonfire Recreation and Parks event
Oct. 22–25 Sunfest, with Wine on the Beach Oct. 23–24 Inlet Lot
Oct. 24 Shore Craft Beer Fest, Halloween Bowl Bash Various
Oct. 25 Halloween Spook Out Recreation and Parks event
Oct. 29–Nov. 1 OC RV & Van Lifestyle Show Convention Center
Oct. 30–Nov. 1 Bronco Beach Bash Inlet Lot

Four of these events use the Inlet. Two of them, Cruisin' and Sunfest, also draw the biggest crowds of the month. The rest of this guide takes them in order.

The Week That Starts Before the Cars Arrive

The Ocean City Police Department announced on Sept. 29 that the town will be a Special Event Zone from Tuesday, Oct. 6, through Sunday, Oct. 11, for Endless Summer Cruisin'. The car show itself runs Oct. 8–11. The enforcement window is longer than the event, and longer than last year's.

Special Event Zone dates Length
2025 Thursday, Oct. 9, through Sunday, Oct. 12 Four days
2026 Tuesday, Oct. 6, through Sunday, Oct. 11 Six days

Inside the zone, speed limits drop and fines rise. The maximum speed within town limits is 30 mph, and some residential areas have lower posted limits. Under legislation signed in 2020, certain violations carry enhanced penalties, and the Town compares the setup to a construction zone, where serious offenses can mean higher fines or arrest. Officers from OCPD, Maryland State Police and the Worcester County Sheriff's Office will all be enforcing traffic laws. The Town says to expect heavy congestion and possible changes to normal traffic patterns.

Parking enforcement has its own dates. Resolution 2026-04 sets enhanced paid parking rates and penalties from Thursday, Oct. 8, through Sunday, Oct. 11. Enforcement will focus on no-parking signs, red curbs, fire hydrants and sidewalks. So the slower speed limits start on Tuesday, and the higher parking penalties start on Thursday.

According to The Banner, the official show is based at the Ocean City Convention Center and the Inlet Parking Lot, with a classic car parade on the Boardwalk each morning. The paper also describes the unofficial side: owners gathering in small groups in parking lots up and down Coastal Highway with their hoods up, and lawn chairs lining the highway's sidewalks. This year the show is paired with the 45th annual Hot Rod & Custom Car Show at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center on 40th Street. The Performing Arts Center in the same building has Should've Been a Cowboy Starring Charlie Floyd: A Toby Keith Tribute on Oct. 8, opening night of Cruisin'.

Harbor Day Is on Sunset Avenue That Saturday

Cruisin' Saturday is also Harbor Day at the Docks on Oct. 10, held across the inlet at the West Ocean City Commercial Fishing Harbor on Sunset Avenue. The event celebrates the resort's start as a 19th-century fishing village and the commercial and sportfishing industries that still work out of the harbor.

Admission is free. The day opens with the Blessing of the Fleet at 10 a.m., and the crab cake-eating contest is at 2:30 p.m. You can also meet working fishermen, try fresh seafood, and visit a touch tank, educational exhibits, maritime arts and crafts and live music. On the second-busiest weekend of the month, it's one of the few big events that isn't on Coastal Highway or at the Inlet Lot.

The Inlet Lot Is Free Monday Through Thursday

For October 2026, the Inlet Lot is free Monday through Thursday and $3.50 an hour Friday through Sunday. The first 30 minutes are always free. From May 22 through Sept. 30, the rate was $4.50 an hour every day. If you pay late, settle any expired time before you leave the lot to avoid extra administrative charges.

The Town's 2026 newsletter says it has phased out its conventional parking kiosks. Payment now goes through ParkMobile or Passport Parking, and QR code, text and phone options are also available. Load one of the apps before Sunfest weekend.

The weekday rate makes a Tuesday or Wednesday evening at the Inlet free if you park there. Marlin Moon on 33rd Street has a daily happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. with $2 local oysters, listed through Nov. 30. Captain's Table on 15th Street has a daily 4 to 6 p.m. food and drink happy hour, also listed through Nov. 30. Most of the Restaurants Calling festival coupons on the tourism site end Oct. 4, so check with each restaurant before counting on one. Further up the highway, Brasa has opened at 3303 Coastal Highway in the former Guido's Burritos space, serving Argentine- and Italian-inspired food, according to Delmarva Now's Aug. 24 business roundup.

Mid-October Has No Announced Zone

Corvette Weekend follows on Oct. 16–17. The Town's Sept. 29 Special Event Zone release covers only the Cruisin' week, and no separate 2026 zone dates have been published for Corvette Weekend. If that changes, the announcement will come from OCPD.

The same Saturday, Oct. 17, Ocean City Recreation and Parks holds its Family Beach Bonfire. On Sunday, Oct. 18, the Performing Arts Center stages Meredith Willson's The Music Man.

What's New at Sunfest This Year

Sunfest returns to the Inlet Lot Oct. 22–25. The festival marked its 50th year in 2025, alongside the resort's 150th anniversary season. It's free, with two live stages and more than 20 acts scheduled. The Banner lists these additions for 2026:

  • Tractor rides on the beach
  • Drive in Disguise, a Halloween-themed Jeep parade
  • Beach yoga
  • A bonfire and fireworks
  • A Delmarva DockDogs show, where dogs compete to see which can leap farthest into a pool

Wine on the Beach shares the Inlet Lot on Oct. 23 and 24, with tastings, vendors and live music. Tickets are $39.19. Indoors, the Performing Arts Center has a tribute show each night at 7 p.m.: Elton Dan & The Rocket Band on Oct. 22, Live & Let Die: The Music of Paul McCartney on Oct. 23 and Black Tie Optional: A Tribute to Michael Bublé & Beyond on Oct. 24.

Saturday, Oct. 24, is the busiest single day of the month. Sunfest, Wine on the Beach and the Bublé tribute overlap with the Shore Craft Beer Fest, which The Banner calls the resort's longest-running craft beer event, with more than three dozen breweries expected. Recreation and Parks holds its Halloween Bowl Bash that day too, followed by the Halloween Spook Out on Sunday, Oct. 25. Because Sunfest weekend starts on a Thursday, the free weekday parking at the Inlet Lot ends as the festival begins.

The Month Ends With Broncos and Camper Vans

The last weekend brings two more vehicle events. The OC RV & Van Lifestyle Show runs Oct. 29 through Nov. 1, and Bronco Beach Bash runs Oct. 30 through Nov. 1. The Town's 2026 newsletter calendar puts the RV show at the Convention Center and the Bronco Beach Bash at the Inlet Parking Lot, which makes it the fourth event at the lot this month. On Oct. 29, the Performing Arts Center has Mrs. Doubtfire: The New Musical Comedy.

The next big date is Nov. 19, when Winterfest of Lights opens. It runs through Jan. 2, 2027, with Fire & Ice nights and an Enchanted Evenings carriage program expanded to eight nights. The Endless Summer Cruisin' zone ends at midnight on Sunday, Oct. 11, and the Inlet Lot stays free Monday through Thursday until Oct. 31.
